Rod Neufeld, a leader at Abundant Life, is back with a blog aimed at real husbands. Since we tend to fail at that, let’s listen carefully so we can become that real husband Jesus has called us to be.

We have an epidemic in North America, not just divorce but adultery, bitterness etc… We have people “staying together for the kids” and living like roommates (more like the odd couple) now we know this is a direct effect of the fall and Satan’s work in the world but why are Christians allowing him the win in their lives.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Ephesians 5:22-23 KJV)
Ok men now that I have your attention…... This is not without responsibility! You are to present a reflection of Christ in your marriage for the world to see!
Not a simple or easy task and it is easy to slip, let me demonstrate with some farfetched examples to make the point exceedingly clear.
Jesus would NEVER hang out by the water cooler and mock His Church, complain about it how, they are always nagging Him with prayers etc. to the other guys hanging around there.
Pretty ridiculous thought, huh? But men will do that to their wives (yes I said to their wives, they may not be present but it is your wife that your hurting) without giving it a second thought. Now you may not do it but are you standing and listening while a co-worker does? Do you snicker, or just smile and remain silent. Now I’m not saying you need to give that guy a “what for” either but a strong message can be silent, like just walking away.
Jesus dispersed and angry mob that wanted to stone a prostitute. He made one statement, but it was His silence that made the point. By the way, they may just mock you for walking away and not taking part, I say fear not the mockery of fools. In fact, this is the best place for:
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. (Proverbs 26:4 KJV)
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour. (Proverbs 14:9 KJV) do you wish to be favoured by fools or the righteous?
Ok, next example,
Ever walk into the lunch room and the guys are gawking at the “Sun girl” in the paper (or worse)? I have a co-worker that says he’s a Christian and it’s the first thing he looks at when he grabs the paper. I wonder if he does that at home when he’s having morning coffee with his wife. JUST BECAUSE SHE IS NOT THERE DOESN’T MEAN YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS OR LACK THEREOF!

So men this is serious business, how we treat our wives is on display for the world to see not just when she is around but especially when she’s not! remember what I just said I have a co-worker that says he’s a Christian and does these things, the world sees that as its ok or worse they see the hypocrisy that the devil whispers about in their itching ears and it justifies their denial of Christ in there minds.
