Please don’t take offense, but, I don’t believe in you. I do not believe in the existence of a human that believes there is no God. In order to believe or not believe you need faith, if you have
have faith you need something to have faith in!
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God….... (Psalms 14:1 KJV)
Now, here is what I do believe: you and I were made in the image of an amazing and loving God. His desire is that we turn from the ways of a fallen world and exercise our free will to turn to Him. Now you may ask, “If I submit to a benevolent, loving and righteous God, how can that be an act of free will?”
Simple! Unlike every other “religion” in the world, God does not force you to submit to Him or a list of rules that are impossible to comply with. The God of all creation leaves an open invitation to repent and turn from sin (which is really a yoke of slavery), be free to accept Christ as Lord and saviour forever, thus sealing you into His family. That’s a pretty good deal!
You see Mr. And Mrs. and Ms. And Miss. Atheist, we are not here to condemn or judge or even to point out sin in your lives. That is not the point at all. Those Laws that God put into playare
not there so we can stand and point our fingers at you. They are there for all of us to realize that in our own strength it is impossible to be a good person. We need a saviour to take the law on His shoulders. The only way we can do that is by fooling ourselves, by creating a God of our own and making rules that are subjective. That way we set a standard that can change if we need it to.
I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: (Isaiah 45:5 KJV)0
I can honestly say these things because for a time I was once like you. I hated God and his rules. At least I hated the perception I had of Him and His rules. I never understood the Gospel even as I grew up in a “Christian” home. It never quite made sense. Therefore, it never stuck. I either pretended because I knew enough of the lingo to get by or I just plain ran from God as fast as I could. I wanted nothing to do with the God I was running from.
Here is the problem: As much as I denied Him, I knew He was real and He was there wherever I went and wherever I hid.
So, my Atheist friends, you have a choice to make:
Either you can continue to hate a God, THE God, that loves you and died for you to make a binding and final atonement for your sins. Or, you can accept the free gift of salvation. It will change your life. Of course, you won’t have to change your life by yourself, He does the work for you.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. (John 6:47 KJV)
You see, God created 2 places for us to go when our life is over in these bodies of flesh and bone. One was created out of love to have a place where we could once again be in a close relationship with our creator for eternity. The other was created out of necessity for those that deny and refuse Him and the reality of sin in their lives. I truly believe that God most likely did not want to create Hell, but He is a just and righteous God. He must deal with sin according to His will and law. You see, in order for God to love sinners he does have to hate sin.
Here is the beauty in it all, NOBODY HAS TO GO TO HELL! GOD DOES NOT SEND PEOPLE TO HELL! We go there willingly. You see, He is not a God of, “do this or I’ll send you there!” He is a God of mercy and grace offering Himself to pay for your sin. There is no other deity in any religious system that claims that!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 KJV)
To quote the grandfather of Christian Rock, Larry Norman, “Why don’t you look into Jesus, He’s got the answer!” (Larry Norman, “Why don’t you Look into Jesus?”, Only Visiting this Planet, Verve Records, 1972)
It’s a lot to swallow because I am telling you your entire world view is wrong! But I say it with the certainty and authority I have in Christ because I was once YOU.
I once was lost, but now am found! (“Amazing Grace”, John Newton, Public Domain)
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. (Matthew 18:11 KJV)
