Area 51 Christians’ Response to the Pandemic
Posted by Rod Neufeld on March 24, 2020
**Disclaimer - First things first, y’all know
me and know I don’t inherently pull punches, if you don’t know me please recognize that I am not trying to incite angry responses but instead attempting to trigger critical and rational thinking in hopes to redirect our worldly thoughts and attitudes to eternal minded ones.
Ok so here is the scoop, we are in undiscovered territory here. Most governments in the world have not had to deal with something like this since 1918. We are in uncharted waters here and yes as a result people are scared and doing some foolish things. Fear causes us to do
things out of character and as a coping mechanism to maintain some form of perceived control.
I am not going to get into this current situation to deeply or talk about end times plagues etc.. My message is one of, well, simplicity. At times like these I get more pragmatic and try to put my emotions under house arrest. Something I think we could all benefit from in these unsure times.
When people that do not have the “Hope of Christ” respond to circumstances, they respond as someone without hope. As irrational as their behavior may seem it is a perfectly rational response considering their spiritual condition. They are afraid, conspiracies and paranoia seem more logical than when things are going great. Rightly so, they live an existence of uncertainty therefore their responses are of that nature.
My first point is this:I am trying (emphasis on trying) to focus on my faith and honour my God in these times, because I have hope and certainty. My hope is found in Christ Jesus, not in the reactions of people or governments.
No matter what laws are passed, or decisions made by earthly governments, My God still has the final say and He is not going anywhere!
(NKJV) Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
SEE!! HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US!
He and He alone have power and authority over all. I am very sorry if some of us in Christ forget that in times like these, so here I am to remind myself and anyone who is reading. I know it is an emotional response and while in the flesh we can be overcome by these things.
Fear not as God so often reminds us for example….
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NKJV
You see we don’t have to trust IN governments or their decisions, some are Christians and know Jesus and some don’t therefore, yes, their judgment will be imperfect…. Just like ours will be. We are not told to trust “IN” governments only to OBEY them and be good citizens until we take up our permanent residence. I believe that Peter, under inspiration from the Holy Spirit, says it well…
Therefore, submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for ]vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
My second point (This one is a bit sharper):
Those of you who claim Christ as savior and claim to put your faith and ultimate trust in God but still run around with wild conspiracy theories and paranoia. I ask you one thing, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Quit playing the part of the scared fool, if you continue to run off at the mouth with these silly notions of Government control and weather machines and human engineered virus plagues meant to control the population and whatever else you may spew forth you will lose all credibility. That may not mean much to you now, thinking who cares what the world thinks. I don’t particularly care what the world thinks of me either, however my testimony means a lot to me. When Christian’s engage in this kind of activity what they are doing is in effect sharing” ANOTHER” Gospel. W
HAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THAT?
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. Galatians 1:6-10 NKJV
Not only are you destroying your testimony, when you do try to share the true Gospel with someone, they will not be remotely open to it. Does this please God or our own desire to be right and heard?
Even if these things were true, they are not ours to share as Christians. We are Saved for the purpose of sharing the ‘ONE TRUE” Gospel of the “ONE TRUE” God and to honour Him and serve Him with our lives. The only time that it is “OK” to defy the government in scripture is when you are denied the right to share the truth of God’s word and that is By Law not by how we feel they are treating us!
For the record the Bible does speak of plagues in end times, it doesn’t ask us Christians to act like conspiracy wackadoodles when they come!
I will say this, when you are typing or sharing these notions, look over your shoulder and close your eyes. Now ask yourself this, If Jesus was standing there, would you still share it?
What do you want to hear from God when you meet face to face?
Well Done my good and faithful servant?
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
My child….lets talk about these things you were complaining about instead of fully trusting me and sharing the Gospel I gave you to…
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”
Your choice to make as I fervently believe in free will or I would never have surrendered my life to Christ!
I know which one I want to hear!
This is not written in anger but in frustrated love, you and I represent Christ, how are we doing?
