Christian - A very confusing term

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. (Acts 11:26 KJV)
In the early years of the Church, the term, “Christian,” was not an endearing term but more of a slang or insult. To our generation it has become much in the same. We are now in a world where the word, “Christian,” strikes up distance and controversy in many area’s of the world including and especially North America.
We as Christians need to clarify the what it means to be a Christian. The world is so unclear as to what it means, so let’s define it for everyone that does not know. Let us by action, word and lifestyle redefine for the world what it means to be, “Christian”.
Actual Christians DON’T hate people because of their sexual orientation or race (because we are all the same race, the one God created). They don’t go around protesting at funerals, sending hate mail or shooting abortion doctors. They most certainly are not there to pump your pockets for every penny you have! A Christian, a born again follower of Jesus Christ, does not do that!
I could go on for days but I have more to say, it seems that these are the latest in the long list Christians are accused of doing or being.
I get it, though. There are a lot of posers and fakers out there hiding behind the guise of Christianity and they are doing a great disservice to the God of all creation. To them I say, “Shame on you for dragging my Jesus, my Lord, my God through the mud!” Aside from that they will see judgment at Gods hands. It is not my responsibility to do that only to do what Christ commanded me to do and that is love, share the Gospel, help the needy and do all these things for His glory!
And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (Mark 13:5-6 KJV)
So, actual Christians DO help the needy, the hurting, widows, orphans, unwed mothers, single dads, drug addicts etc. They DO build hospitals, schools, orphanages, etc. Christians may have opinions on things and may disagree with you, that does not mean they are intolerant. It just means they have values and opinions that they try to adhere to. Which, as far as I understand, having an opinion and taking a stand on something is the right of every human being.
There is no other “religious” group in the world that help more people and perform more humanitarian acts than Christians! We show up before the storm and when the dust clears and all the non-Christian groups are gone, we are still on the ground doing what needs to be done. It is not to earn favour or to keep score, it is because we serve a loving and benevolent Creator who has put that desire in us.
So, what is a Christian? A born again believer and follower of Jesus Christ. We have an opinion which you may not always agree with and we’re ok with that. You may not like us, even hate us. But, with Christ in us we will always love you and desire to see everyone come to salvation in Jesus Christ.
So, now I’m calling all Christians to get up off the pews and live like Christ would have us: Seek the lost, share your faith and accept the world’s consequences for that because the world will never judge you impartially, anyway. God’s judgment is final, binding, pure and holy.
There is lots of things people quote that Jesus did not say. However, Jesus did say this: If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John14:15 KJV)
And this: This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. (John 15:12 KJV)
