Money Basics Workshop: January 20, 2018

Topics:   taxes    finances    debt

Posted by ALBC on December 20, 2017

According to a recent poll of 1,500 Canadians over half of Canadians are only $200 away from Bankruptcy, and 31% don’t make enough to cover their bills. What’s more, 67% aren’t particularly confident about their ability to handle their finances, and many wish they could go back and do things differently.

Unfortunately believers in Christ are not outside of these statistics and often struggle with financial difficulties. That is why we would like to offer a financial workshop for all who are interested in becoming good stewards of the money God has entrusted to them.

In the Bible we are told not to worry:

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

Matthew 6:25

We are also told we need to be wise with our finances:

“The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” Proverbs 21:20

Practicing this attitude and wisdom will result in us being able to be generous:

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25

Therefore, you are invited to a free personal financial management workshop on Saturday January 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Abundant Life Baptist Church, 1396 Plessis Road (map).

Invite friends and family who you think could benefit from this as well. There will be no sales pitch or marketing of financial services or products. You are under no obligation. Our desire is that we give you solid principles to apply to your own life and home.

Topics that our financial advisers will be presenting:

• Cash management/Budgeting

• Freedom from debt

• How to use financial products such as RRSP and TFSA

• Tithing & giving

• Saving on tax

• Saving for retirement

The financial advisers presenting on January 20 are Uwe Betzing, who works in financial planning with Investors’ Group and Andy Lange, who works in senior administration for a major corporation in Manitoba.
