The coming storm

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” 2 Timothy 3:1 KJV
There is a storm coming. In fact, it is sweeping the nations of the world as you read this. It has existed since the fall of man and it is mostly ignored. You see, we know something is wrong but find ways to pacify those feelings. They are temporary fixes, of course. Try as we might, we are never complete. We are looking for an answer that we know exists but we want to find our own way through it. You see,
pride gets in the way. It causes us to think we are the masters of our destiny and controllers of our fate. To be fair, we have a say in what happens but we don’t control the entire outcome. In fact, we can make it worse.
“For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers,
incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:2-7 KJV
You see, we become gods in and of ourselves; we devise ways to justify our actions and sin. That has happened since the introduction of sin. Here is the really scary part. We fill our heads with what we think is knowledge and wisdom, believing that we have the answers. In reality, we do not have them, so we create a problem and devise the answer to prove ourselves.
The truth becomes so far from our reach that it seems to be a fairy tale of sorts. Though the truth we create cannot be proven, we give it authority over our lives. Why? Because we have fear and run from the alternative. We condemn those who put their faith in the truth, the One with the answers. We embrace those that war and call them peaceful, we shun and condemn those that act in peace and call them lovers of war and haters of peace.
I have pondered this next scripture for days now and I have come to a conclusion about it, please read it first.
“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that takethnot his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” Matthew 10:33-40 KJV
We see here the words of God; spoken by God…yes I confess that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. That is what the bible says. If you don’t believe me, read the Gospel of John and get back to me.
Back to my point. I could never understand this as a non-Christian. It never really made sense. Why would this Jesus filled with peace and love destroy families? He doesn’t. He comes to us with His word, which is a sword (“... and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:17 KJV.)
Jesus does not break up families, they break themselves up. You can leave a Bible on the table and nothing will happen. It just collects dust. When you blow the dust off and open it that’s when things begin to happen.
The way I see it, there are those that accept Christ at His word, and accept His word. There are those that reject Him and His word. People will not even agree to disagree. It turns to pure intolerance simply because we choose to follow Christ. For example, just look at how the world treats Tim Tebow. We see by what is happening in the world now that those that deny Christ and His word are growing more and more hateful and discontent. They are growing more and more destructive towards the lovers of God and followers of our Lord. They do not even understand why. They just hate.
Logic is not even an option for the enlightened of the world. They claim academic superiority then debate like toddlers because they reject the truth. We are told to see it from the other side by those that refuse to do the same. If we love God more than ourselves, we will love others more than ourselves as well. The alternative to that is when we hate God we follow another path.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV
There is blindness in the storm that is coming. True believers will be corralled and tried. We will face condemnation like the world has never seen. That which is wrong will be perceived as right, that which is right will be perceived as wrong. Those that hunger to be filled will be filled. Those that desire to be pleased will find many teachers of blasphemy and heresy. Despite these things, the Church, the body of Christ, will grow and the light of the world will shine.
My other problem is this; I don’t want to see people reject the truth and to turn from the true and living God. I do not want to see any perish. But that is not my decision. It is theirs to make. That is control and power over their destiny. You can pretend to be free yet be bonded to sin. Or, you can submit to the truth and gain eternal freedom and have something this world so desperately needs…HOPE.
This could be you; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 8 KJV
Just remember; when you think that you have nothing but time and choose to continue in disobedience and sin while rejecting the love of The Father, you will not receive forgiveness. God sent His Son with love and forgiveness the first time. The second time it will not be the same.
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;” 2 Timothy 4:1 KJV
But though time is short there is hope,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 KJV
Turn to the truth. You know it is the truth. Don’t allow yourself to be blinded by false teachers and false professors of the faith. There will always be evil where ever you look, so don’t go looking for it! Look for Jesus, He has the answer!
