“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 KJV

We pray for Paris, we pray for Nigeria, we pray for Afghanistan, we pray for the world! When a reporter from CNN tells me to pray I am almost offended. You see the god that they want (please note the small g) is the one you can take out and use when it serves your purpose. I shouldn’t get offended but it’s hard when you see what happens the rest of the time. A high school football player takes a knee in the end zone and has his touchdown taken away because of his behaviour. They acted like he was grandstanding or something. He took a knee! That’s not showboating that is humbling yourself before God!

So many stories from around the country and around the world have the same foolish premise. “You stupid Christians need to stop serving the God of Creation. Just cut out all of that Jesus stuff.” Unless, of course, there is a tragedy in a country of culture and civilized behaviour. Then, and only then, can you open up that Jesus bottle and pour out His healing for us. When it’s all over, put Him back in the bottle until the next time we need Him. Until then, it’s business as usual. Well, I’m sorry, but we pray and weep for all who hurt, all the time, no matter what country or city they are in. There is no ‘off switch’!

Here is my struggle. I want to be angry at that behaviour. But, I can’t because it doesn’t serve Christ. What does serve Christ is to recognize the world’s need for Him. Then to pray for them and direct them His way.

You see, I have come to the conclusion that though most of the world has become comfortable in their sin, there comes a time when tragedy strikes. Then, even the hardest heart recognizes the need for the Children of God to pray and petition the Lord for peace and healing.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” 1 John 3:1 NKJV

I see it as more of an S.O.S. “Calling all true Christians! Calling all true Christians! Please talk to your Father about our needs”

I am not trying to come across as arrogant or irreverent, we don’t get a special direct line to God because we are better than anyone else or we have done something to deserve it. We have access to our Father in Heaven because at some point in our life, we recognized our sin and need for a saviour. You see, it is not our right to have an audience with God. It is a privilege that we receive from him. A privilege we most certainly do not deserve but have because His mercy abounds.

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”1 John 4:10 KJV

We simply humbled ourselves before the God of all creation and submitted to His supreme and loving authority in our lives. We then continue to mess up and make bad choices. Instead of carrying on, His spirit reminds us of those things and convinces us to seek God’s forgiveness for them. God has already forgiven us. It is an exercise in humility on our part that we should go through. Kind of like therapy on a spiritual level.

You see, I am messed p and imperfect. What is the only difference between me and someone that has not submitted to Christ? Through no ability of my own I have been forgiven and redeemed. I have been changed. God has added His spiritual genetic material to me. You could use this as a case for evolution, I suppose, but it cannot be recreated without Christ. He that is in me (God) is greater than he that is in the world (Satan).

So, yes, news reporters, politicians and the like: we will pray for Paris. Let me rephrase that. We will continue to pray for Paris and for all of the other lost souls
out there in need of a saviour, healing and peace. We will get flustered and upset, but please don’t take offence. It’s not you, it is us. We have a desire to see all people come to salvation through Christ. We have no choice, after all, God re-wired us to care for all people in that manner no matter the situation, ethnicity, gender, orientation, etc. He looks at the intent of the heart. He did make that heart, after all. He created us all in His image and we should honour that.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”Genesis 1:27 KJV

Just remember, Jesus cannot be contained. So you may condemn us, mock us, and arrest us. It will not matter because we understand it is not us you reject but it is the saviour of the world whom you deny in your lives. Anyone who has been truly changed by Christ should desire to see all people come to repentance and salvation. Whether they hold the trigger or face the barrel, Christ died that all may be saved.

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”John 3:17 KJV

So, to those that have been saved, I plead with you to pray fervently, loudly and with a pure heart. For those that have not, quit fooling yourself into thinking that the God you deny daily with all of your might will suddenly answer your petitions to Him because bad men did bad things. I’m not being mean but I’m not going to lie to you either.

God answers the prayers of those that he has saved through Christ! Those are the only prayers He said He would answer. He will save you, too. He made that point abundantly clear! God created each and every one of us and He has a place for you if you want it. We cannot create God in our image. We see in the news that man has a habit that leads more to destruction than creation. Let Christ in and break that cycle for ever!

It is not a religion, but a relationship with the Creator of all.
