Culture, morals, ethics and preferences change at whirlwind speed. Definitions and standards rise and drop seemingly at random. Illness, poverty, injustice and corruption seem to be the norm. We say something is "wrong". But how do we know it is wrong? You need to have a standard of what is truly "right".
