A prayer from our elder team (John Almas):
“Truth Be Told” (Mathew West)
Lie number one: You’re supposed to have it all together
And when they ask how you’re doin’, just smile and tell them, “Never better”
Lie number two: Everybody’s life is perfect except yours
So keep your messes and your wounds and your secrets safe with you behind closed doors
But truth be told
The truth is rarely told, no…
I say, “I’m fine, yeah, I’m fine, oh, I’m fine, hey, I’m fine”
But I’m not, I’m broken
And when it’s out of control I say it’s under control
But it’s not and You know it
I don’t know why it’s so hard to admit it
When bein’ honest is the only way to fix it
There’s no failure, no fall
There’s no sin You don’t already know
So let the truth be told
Lord, let the truth be told. I often say everything’s ok when its not. I don’t want to “get into it” I don’t want to be the only one who is struggling.
Truth be told we all are, or just have been, or soon will be. Many of us are feeling broken, especially this week. I hate being broken but I sureneed it. Help us Lord to embrace it. Keep us from running to “quick fixes” to minimize the pain. You are working something in us, we don’t know what.
But it is for best in this life or the next or both. You didn’t rescue John the Baptist from prison and death. Would I be ok with that if it were me?
Here we don’t have a framework really to understand the suffering of our family in Afghanistan and other places of persecution. We do carry a weight of sorrow, sadness and fear for them. We pray for courage for them. We pray for deliverance for them. We pray this work of Satan will be turned around on him and the church will grow like never before.
Help us LORD to not resist Your hand. May Your perfect work be done in us, Your Church around the world.
From Robin Mark’s Shout to the North
“Rise up church with broken wings
Fill this place with songs again
Of our God who reigns on high
By his grace again we’ll fly”
